Kings Point at Sun City Center is a gated, 55-plus Tampa retirement community of just over 5,000 homes, located adjacent to the original Sun City Center community near Tampa, FL. Though the two communities share similar features and amenities, they actually have different sets of bylaws and restrictions covering each.
Kings Point is the more up-to-date of the two as far as homes/designs, and amenities are concerned. But you should keep in mind that development of Kings Point began in the 1970’s, so if you are looking for a completely modern community, you might want to check out some other places. But, some people like a community that has been well established, as you know and can see first hand, exactly what you’re buying in to.
Residents of Kings Point enjoy a wide array of amenities, most notably 3 golf courses, Kings Point Executive (Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design), Falcon Watch, and Specter. KPE is an 18-hole track, Falcon Watch actually has 27 holes broken down into 3 distinct 9-hole courses, and Specter has 18 holes. Not to mention the courses just outside the gates of Kings Point in Sun City Center.
Other amenities include a 90,000 square foot clubhouse, with exercise facilities, bingo, card, and billiard rooms, a cafe’, as well as a theater which hosts well known performers and Broadway type shows. There are indoor and outdoor pools and spas, plus tennis courts, horseshoes and more.
In addition to the large community center, there is a newer amenity center (South Clubhouse) which is much smaller, but has many of the same features, its just much more up to date. There are more than 100 organized clubs and groups at Kings Point, so you’re sure to find something that fits your interests.
Kings Point is made up of mostly villas/duplexes, and features and prices vary widely based on when they were constructed. As I mentioned, the community has been under development for several years up until just recently, so you will surely find a mixed bag when you are out there looking.
