When the territory became available to settlers, many of Jackson’s troops were the first to call Panama City Beach home.

The area saw real estate values quadruple before coming back to earth after the real estate collapse in 2008.

The 2010 census recorded a population of 12,018 people in Panama City Beach, which showed a slowing of the growth rate that had been above 80% throughout the previous two decades. Today, the local population is estimated to be just slightly higher at 12,624.
Out of those 12,624 people who call Panama City Beach home, approximately 45% of them are over the age of 45.
