Victoria Gardens is a community located in DeLand, Florida (midway between Daytona Beach and Orlando) that has actually been under development for several years and has changed hands through many different developers, though none of them have been able to make it a success…yet.
Today, Shea Homes has taken over the community and they are applying their proven active adult lifestyle model to the community. Shea Homes is a well known national developer of new homes and communities, and they started a division catering to baby boomers looking for an active lifestyle community in 1999. This concept is called Trilogy and it is this concept that Shea Homes has brought to Victoria Gardens when they took over the community not very long ago.
The location of Victoria Gardens in DeLand is pretty good because you’re only 20 minutes away from the beach, and 30 minutes away from the outskirts of Orlando. Deland itself is a charming town, and home to Stetson University, so you would be able to regularly enjoy a full slate of collegiate athletics, arts, and performances.
At the heart of the community is a 20,000 square foot clubhouse with a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, business center, billiards room, ballroom and more. If you’re looking for golf, you’ve got the nearby Victoria Hills golf course which is ranked as one of the Top 50 public courses by Golf World Magazine.
There are four collections of homes at Victoria Gardens: Garden (1,409-1,670 sf), Trellis (1,430-1,928 sf), Vineyard (1,820-2,496 sf) and Vineyard Estate (2,618-3,326 sf). Prices currently start in the $170,000′s and go up to over $400,000 for the larger models.
Like many active lifestyle communities Victoria Gardens offers a “Vacation Program” where for a very reasonable fee you can come stay in a home in the community for a few days and sample all that the community has to offer. I highly recommend taking advantage of this type of program wherever you can find them. Its a great way to see if a community is really for you, without having to make any kind of big commitment first.
