Calesa Township: A Community for All Ages in Ocala

by Ryan Erisman | Updated: September 27, 2024

Despite being a website geared mostly towards Florida 55+ communities, I get readers all the time writing in and asking about communities that are not age restricted.

If you are open to learning more about communities like that, Calesa Township in Ocala is a great option to explore.

Interestingly, it is being developed by the same company responsible for one of Florida's most popular 55+ communities, On Top of the World.

Quick Facts About Calesa

  • Location: Ocala (right next to its sister community, On Top of the World)
  • Opened: 2021
  • Community size: Planned for approx. 5,000 homes
  • Age restrictions: None
  • Home sizes: 1,600 sq. ft. to 3,800+ sq. ft.
  • Starting Prices: $300k's

Location

I've written several times about all the things that make the Ocala area an attractive option for retirement, and Calesa is in the perfect location to benefit from all of those things.

It's actually just 3 minutes down the road from its sister community On Top of the World as you can see in this aerial photo:

A friend of mine recently moved to Ocala, and he mentioned to me that before moving there he thought he'd be making a lot of trips to other cities for things to do, shopping, or good places to eat, but he was pleasantly surprised that Ocala has pretty much everything in that regard.

Amenities

Calesa Township has an impressive list of amenities. Here are just a few of them:

  • 4 Miles of Multi-Surfaced Trail System
  • Pedestrian Tunnels for Safe Travel Throughout the Community
  • Resort Pool with Covered Cabana Building for Parties and Gatherings
  • Outdoor Grills and BBQ Areas
  • Full-Court Basketball
  • Soccer Area
  • Trail Kiosks Throughout the Community
  • Neighborhood Bark Parks
  • Onsite Public K-8 Charter School
  • FAST Aquatic Center

My kids are competitive swimmers, and though it only just opened in 2022, I've already spent a considerable amount of time at the FAST Aquatic Center.

This first-class facility is home to an indoor 10-lane 50m/25yd competition pool and a 7-lane 50m/25yd/25m outdoor competition pool.

In most communities, swimming takes a back seat to other activities like golf and pickleball, which is a shame because swimming is a great way to stay active and healthy. But if you ultimately choose to retire in Calesa or On Top of the World for that matter, you've got this great facility right in your backyard.

Homes

The Acacia Floorplan at Calesa Township

Calesa offers 15 different floorplans ranging in size from about 1,600 sq. ft. to more than 3,800 sq. ft.

One thing readers who end up buying at On Top of the World always tell me is that they just felt like they got a bigger bang for their buck there than they would have in a lot of other communities they looked at. Considering Calesa is from the same developer and in the same area, that will also be the case here.

They also offer something here called “HomeFlex”, which offers extra living space to accommodate your changing needs. With a separate entrance, garage, bedroom, bathroom, and living room, the HomeFlex option allows for togetherness and privacy all under the same roof.

This is an interesting option, especially for those who might have aging parents living with them, have adult children temporarily moving back home, or those planning to have lots of visiting relatives or friends.

Request More Information

Calesa is still in the early stages and there's much more to come here. When it's all said and done there will be around 5,000 homes here.
