The idea for Florida for Boomers came to me in 2004 while I was sitting on my back lanai, drinking a glass of Smoking Loon Cabernet (how far we’ve come since those days, ha!) after a long day working as a new home salesperson in a community that, while not age restricted, was definitely geared towards retirees heading to Florida.
Every day at the sales office I’d get the same questions in some form or another about moving to Florida, discovering the best places, finding the best communities, and so on.
I thought it would be amazing if someone put together a one-stop resource that could answer all of those questions and more.
It was a few years later before I actually did anything with the idea, but in 2008 I finally published the first version of my eponymous book, Florida for Boomers.
Since that time, the website you see here has really become an expanded and more regularly updated version of the book, though the book itself has been updated every couple of years as well.
We now have more than 100,000 newsletter readers, and the site has turned into a full-time, but very enjoyable calling.
Writing about places to retire is not a glamorous topic, but I get a lot of pleasure hearing how my work has impacted readers.

If this is your first time here, I invite you to sign-up for my free Florida retirement newsletter.
If you just prefer to browse for now, that’s ok too. I would recommend starting with our constantly updated list of the 25 Best Places to Retire in Florida, or check out some of our favorite communities.
Thanks for stopping by, and if there’s anything I can help you with, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
