Whether you are looking to call the area home or just hanging out there for a long weekend, Fort Myers is the ultimate Gulf Coast Florida tourist destination for a reason. The options are virtually limitless with all of the great restaurants, hotels, and attractions available within a short distance of this amazing beach town.

Fort Myers has a rich history of outstanding food and fantastic shopping. Add to that the plethora of places to stay and things to do (not to mention the shopping), and you will always find yourself wanting more of Fort Myers.

Here are some of our favorite places to eat, stay, and place in Fort Myers:

Fort Myers Restaurants

Lobster Rolls from Cape Cod Fish Co will feel like they came straight from New England!

Lobster Rolls from Cape Cod Fish Co taste like they came straight from New England!

For anyone who is thinking about relocating to Fort Myers from New England, your first stop for dinner should be Cape Cod Fish Co, which serves up authentic New England-style seafood. You can always get your fix of lobster rolls and fried fish here, and all of the other fried seafood is excellent too.

Looking for the best place to grab some wings, burgers, and craft beer for the big game? Fat Katz is the place for all of that! Their burgers are nothing short of impressive, and many come with unique toppings that blow the standard burger toppings out of the water.

If you’d like a more upscale option, El Gaucho Inca Restaurant provides an interesting combination of Agentinian, Peruvian, and Italian cuisine. Or you could opt for the more traditional French-American menu at Crave.

Fort Myers Hotels

Tiki on the Beach gets rave revies from pretty much everyone who stays there.

For a quiet, romantic stay in Fort Myers, Tiki on the Beach is the perfect hotel. It is located on seven miles of beautiful white sand beach, and owners Kim and Celina go above and beyond to make sure your stay with them is perfect.

Another great beachfront option is the Edison Beach House, which is a little bit bigger than Tiki on the Beach and has an awesome pool. There are seven different types of suites and apartments available here, so you will surely be able to find the perfect accommodations.

If value is your top concern, the Cornerstone Beach Resort is a great choice that is packed with useful amenities including floor to ceiling glass overlooking the beach. Because they offer such a tremendous value, the rooms here book up extremely fast, so make sure you are planning ahead for this one!

Fort Myers Attractions

With the boats parked right outside, you know the shrimp is fresh at Trico Shrimp Co!

It should come as no surprise that with a place with as many beautiful white sand beaches as Fort Myers, the most popular attractions here involve kicking back and relaxing. Spending the day hanging out at Lovers Key State Park or any of the popular Fort Myers beaches is sure to help you unwind.

In keeping with our theme of rest and relaxation, you will also want to spend some time relaxing in Times Square. This area is filled with tons of great shopping that will keep you busy for hours.

Seafood fans will definitely want to check out Trico Shrimp Co, which is the best place in town to buy fresh shrimp. They also offer stone crab claws and lobster tails, but the fresh shrimp is the ticket here.

Just in case you are the type who enjoys getting some work done on vacation, the Fort Myers Beach Public Library is an excellent place to relax and get to work. In addition to being stunningly beautiful and packed with history, the library also offers free wifi.

Rest and relaxation are the name of the game in Fort Myers. Add to that all of the fantastic restaurants, boutique hotels, and a ridiculous amount of shopping right at your fingertips and you have the ultimate Gulf Coast beach town…and don’t forget those beautiful white sand beaches!
