The York at Valencia Bonita

by Ryan Erisman | Updated: December 1, 2023

The York at Valencia Bonita, a 55+ community from GL Homes located between Ft. Myers and Naples, is perfect for those planning to travel frequently or for those simply wanting a lot less maintenance hassles in retirement.

Townhomes, or “paired villas” as they're often referred to provide their owners with “lock and leave” convenience, and much lower maintenance hassles than a single-family home.

Longtime readers know my affinity for these types of attached villas, and every now and then I find one that really catches my eye.

With just over 2,000 sq. ft. of living area, the York definitely fits the bill.

Let's take a closer look!

In most walkthroughs we do, you enter from the front door, but on the York, the front door is really on the side.

So to better orient you, we're going to pretend like you just parked your car in the garage, and you're entering the home through the door in the garage.

Once you get inside the York from the garage, on one side you'll see this den, which could very easily be turned into a 3rd bedroom…

To the other side of you, is the guest bedroom, which has its own bathroom and shower…

Next up is the great room, dining, and kitchen area. This image provides a good overview…

Here's a closer look at the kitchen of the York…

In addition to what you can see in the image below, the master bedroom features not one but two walk-in closets, plus, a large bathroom with separate vanities and a large tiled shower…

This is Florida of course, and no home is complete without a great outdoor living space and this patio definitely hits the mark…

Last but not least, here's a look at the overall floorplan:

Villas like these were so popular when I was selling homes in 55+ communities that people would sometimes leave other single family homes in the community to move into them instead.

Of course it all comes down to your lifestyle and personal preference, but if you plan to travel even moderately, don’t anticipate a lot of regular houseguests, and want to keep your costs and size footprint low, I suggest you give paired villas like the York a good look.
