When two of my readers purchase homes on the same street in the same community within a month of each other, it definitely gets my attention.
That happened recently in Stillwater, the only true golf course 55+ community in NE Florida.
What's so great about this new 55+ community in St. Johns, FL? That's what we're going to look at in this article.

Location
Stillwater is located in the heart of St. John's County, and offers easy access to Jacksonville and St. Augustine. The community is just 4 miles from I-95 off exit 359.
While a lot of communities are developed in the middle of nowhere and residents have to wait a while for stores and services to catch up, that's not the case at Stillwater.
Not far from the community you'll find places like Publix, Starbucks, Winn Dixie, Panera Bread, Dunkin' Donuts, Taps Bar & Grill, Walgreens, Canopy Road Cafe, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, CVS and more.
Stillwater is about 20 minutes from places like St. Johns Town Center and the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and about 30 minutes from everything historic St. Augustine has to offer.
Golf and Other Amenities
Probably the biggest thing that stands out about Stillwater is that it is the only true golf course 55+ community in NE Florida.
In fact, this is the first golf course built in northeast Florida in more than a decade!
The 18-hole course was designed by Bobby Weed, the same guy who designed Michael Jordan's Grove XXIII course, The Olde Farm Golf Club, Medalist Golf Club, and Ponte Vedra Inn and Club.
Sports Illustrated called it the most innovative course designed in 2022:
“Kudos to veteran architect Bobby Weed. Long associated with Pete Dye and the imaginative work Dye did at TPC Sawgrass, Weed reached into his own bag of tricks to succeed at Stillwater. The first new course to open in North Florida in 20 years, Stillwater boasts an 18-hole routing of 6,745 yards, plenty sufficient for the 55 and over active adult community, but conveniently, the layout can be tackled in loops of three, six, nine and 12 holes that start and finish near the clubhouse.“
The course itself looks amazing, but one of the coolest features in my mind is the driving range, which is powered by Toptracer Technology. It's like having your very own private TopGolf right in your neighborhood.
Other amenities at Stillwater include a resort-style lap pool, an on-site restaurant, bar & lounge, a 24-hour fitness center, tennis courts, pickleball, and bocce ball.
Maintenance-Free Homes and Villas
Stillwater is slated for 549 homes, and there are three distinct home collections available, including a villa collection, and two different single-family home collections.
Floorplans range in size from 1,522 to 2,295 square feet, and prices currently start in the $300k's.
