Twin Lakes vs. The Lakes at Harmony

by Ryan Erisman | Updated: March 24, 2023

In today's article, we are taking a closer look at Twin Lakes and The Lakes at Harmony, two Orlando area 55+ communities.

How are they similar?

How are they different?

Which one is better?

Let's jump right into comparing these two great communities on the basis of their respective locations, the features of the communities themselves, and of course the homes!

Location

Twin Lakes and The Lakes at Harmony are both located in St. Cloud, Florida.

St. Cloud is located along the southern banks of East Lake Tohopekaliga near Kissimmee and just south of Orlando.

Here's a map:

After seeing how many lakes are nearby, you can understand why both communities incorporate the word “Lakes” into their names.

St. Cloud is a quiet city that was originally known as a retirement destination for Civil War veterans.

In addition to having a rich history, the area also offers a type of small-town living that is getting harder and harder to find here in Florida.

Combining that small-town atmosphere with access to all of the amazing amenities located just to the north in Orlando makes St. Cloud a perfect mixture of old and new Florida living.

Because of its great location, St. Cloud is a growing area, with other communities currently being built there as well, like Del Webb Sunbridge, as well as a (rumored) Disney retirement community.

Obviously, since both Twin Lakes and the Lakes at Harmony are located in the same city, we can't really say one location is better than the other.

Both communities are great in that regard!

Community Features

Here's the section where we can really get into spotting some slight differences between these two communities.

Twin Lakes is a stand-alone community, meaning, it is not part of a larger master-planned community.

Just some of the great features here include:

  • Pool & Cabana with Grill
  • State-of-the-Art Fitness Center and Putting Green
  • Gathering Lounge, Activity Room, and more
  • Tennis and Pickleball Courts
  • Bocce and Basketball Courts
  • Boat Dock, Kayaking, Canoeing
  • Green Space, Dog Parks, and Walking Trails
  • Resort-style Pool and Patio Bar

The Lakes at Harmony on the other hand is part of a bigger master-planned community, and one of a handful of neighborhoods that make up the broader community called Harmony.

Harmony encompasses 11,000 acres, of which 70% will remain lakes, conservation areas, and green space.

The community was carefully planned so residents can walk, jog or ride a bike to the beautiful lakes, the championship golf course, the schools, parks, and Town Square Marketplace.

Though The Lakes at Harmony residents share amenities such as the championship golf course, parks, and Town Square with residents of the other neighborhoods within Harmony, there is also a dedicated Recreation and Fitness Center with a tennis court, pickleball courts, pool, and more just for The Lakes at Harmony residents.

The Homes

The homes at both Twin Lakes and The Lakes at Harmony are built by Jones Homes USA, who have been building homes and communities since 1959.

They are dedicated to creating outstanding communities and offering homes with innovative designs, exceptional luxury appointments, and the latest energy features and home technology.

At Twin Lakes, there are 15 floorplans to choose from ranging in size from 1,270 sq. ft. of living space in the smallest home available up to more than 3,800 sq. ft. of living space for the biggest floorplan available.

The Lakes at Harmony offers 10 floorplans to choose from ranging in size from 1,317 sq. ft. of living space on the lowest end to 2,975 sq. ft. of living space on the high end.

Conclusion

In my opinion, if you're considering either Twin Lakes or The Lakes at Harmony, you'd be doing yourself a big disservice by looking at just one and not the other.

Especially considering how close together they are not just in geographical proximity, but in the amenities and home plans, each community offers.
