If you are looking for an affordable Florida 55+ community, Valencia Sound is probably not the right place for you.
But, if you want to retire in the lap of luxury in South Florida, this community in Boynton Beach deserves your full attention.
In this review we’re going to not only look at the community itself…the homes and amenities inside…but we’ll also explore everything around Valencia Sound which helps make this community such a (pardon the pun) “sound” choice.
But first, check out this high-level overview from the developer GL Homes:
Location
Valencia Sound is in Boynton Beach but as you can see on the map it is also close to Delray Beach:
At one time, South Florida was considered the epicenter of Florida retirement, but today that has shifted more towards Central and West Central Florida. So for retirees that still seek the year round warmth that really only South Florida can offer, the choices are kind of limited as far as new 55+ communities are concerned.
There are plenty of older 55+ communities for sure, and you may have luck finding a resale that fits your needs in one of those, but if you are focused on new construction, the options are pretty limited.
Valencia Sound is located just west of the Florida Turnpike and roughly 2 miles north of famed Atlantic Ave. which is considered the main artery of Delray Beach.
Valencia Sound’s developer, GL Homes is no stranger to this area, as they have developed thousands of homes in other Valencia 55+ communities within shouting distance of each other here in Boynton Beach and Delray Beach.
Getting There
As I mentioned, Valencia Sound is just off the Florida Turnpike (4 miles away), and not far from I-95 (9 miles away).
You’ve got two airports to choose from here, Palm Beach International Airport about 21 miles to the north, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport about 36 miles to the south.
Nearby Shopping, Restaurants, and Medical Care
One nice thing about Valencia Sound right out of the gate is that all of the grocery stores, shopping, restaurants and other amenities that many newer communities have to wait years for are already available and open close by.
Between just 2 and 5 miles away there are a variety of shopping centers with popular grocery stores and restaurants, including:
- Delray Marketplace is 2.7 miles away and features places like Apeiro Kitchen & Bar, Frank Theatres / Cinebowl & Grille, Burt & Max's, and more.
- Cobblestone Commons is 3.1 miles away and is anchored by Winn-Dixie and PetSmart.
- Canyon Town Center is 3.6 miles away and has a Publix, Frozen Delight, Panera Bread, and more.
- Tuscany Shoppes is 4 miles away and has a Starbucks, BurgerFi, MIA Kitchen & Bar, and more.
There is also a Target store 4.7 miles away, the Boynton Beach Mall is 9.6 miles away, and the Town Center at Boca Raton is 12.7 miles away.
Nearby Medical centers include CareSpot Urgent Care, Bethesda Hospital West, Bethesda Health City, Delray Medical Center, and Wellington Regional Medical Center.
Things To Do
The beach is one of the first things on just about everyone’s mind, and there are a good selection of beaches between 12 and 15 miles away that you can access via Atlantic Dunes Park, Gulfstream Park, and Spanish River Park. Additionally, the Lake Worth Pier is about 18 miles away. So, close enough to get to daily if you want to, yet far enough away as to avoid the “tourist” traffic as you go about your daily life.
Valencia Sound does not have a golf course, but there are plenty of them close by, including Indian Spring Country Club, Westchester Country Club, Links at Boynton Beach, and Okeeheelee Golf Course.
Valencia Sound Amenities
While it’s good to know that there’s plenty of stuff outside the community to satisfy Valencia Sound residents, it’s also good to know what’s inside the community.
With numerous Valencia 55+ communities under their belt, GL Homes has really honed in on the community amenities and features that define luxury 55+ living.
At Valencia Sound the tone is set the minute you drive through the gate:
GL Homes is known for their stunning entries, and the one at Valencia Sound is no exception.
The 39,000 square foot Clubhouse is filled with incredible amenities spread across approximately 9 acres. Inside you will find a fully equipped fitness center, card rooms, a social hall, a cooking studio, an arts and crafts room, a sports lounge, and more.
Outside you’ll find a resort style pool, a lap and resistance pool, and a wading pool for when the grandkids come to visit.
More and more communities are skipping tennis altogether, but not Valencia Sound! The Valencia Sound Racquet Club, features six lighted, clay tennis courts and 11 lighted pickleball courts:
To top it all off, a full-time lifestyle director keeps resident’s calendars full with events, classes, and shows. Here’s a sample of what you might see on the calendar in a given month:
Valencia Sound Models
A total of 628 homes were built at Valencia Sound. There were 17 floorplans across four different home series or “collections” from which to choose.
Gourmet kitchens, granite countertops, elegant ceramic floor tile, and upscale bathrooms, are just a few of the designer details you’’ find in the homes at Valencia Sound.
