One of the biggest and most exciting outdoor events taking place in central Florida next month will be The Old Florida Outdoor Festival that is held in Apopka. The event will feature anything and everything related to the outdoors lifestyle here in Florida.
There will be booths and vendors for a wide range of outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, shooting, and birding. There will also be outdoors themed art for sale, a farmer’s market, and activities for children. On top of all of that, The Old Florida Outdoor Festival will also feature a BBQ cook-off, chili cook-off, and nightly country music concerts.
The festival is going to be held on the second weekend in February. It will start on Saturday, February 8 and run through Sunday, February 9. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the festival’s website.
Country Music Concerts
The Saturday night concert will feature the Eli Young Band, who will be performing hits like “Crazy Girl” and “Drunk Last Night.” The band is scheduled to follow an opening act that will take the stage at 5 pm.
The Sunday night concert will be country singer Craig Morgan. Craig will take the stage following an opening act that is scheduled to start at 1 pm.
BBQ & Chili Cook-Offs
The festival’s BBQ cook-off competition is being sponsored by the Florida BBQ Association and Sonny’s BBQ. There are over $25,000 in prizes being offered, and all of the contest entry rules are available on the festival’s website.
In addition to the BBQ cook-off, there will also be a backyard chili cook-off that benefits the Adam Stratton Memorial Foundation. The chili cook-off is offering $3,000 in cash prizes, and entry rules are available on the festival’s website.
Hunting & Fishing
One of the main attractions at The Old Florida Outdoor Festival is the Fishing & Hunting Pavilion. This large tent will house an impressive collection of some of the best hunting and fishing minds from across the state of Florida. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a wide assortment of hunting and fishing products, as well as meet members from many different hunting and fishing organizations.
Another big attraction at the festival will be the Shoot Straight Exhibitions. Anyone who has ever been interested in shooting will be thrilled by the trick shooting display that expert marksmen Travis Mears and Tim Bradley will be putting on. Even those who have never fired a weapon will be impressed by these demonstrations.
If you have ever watched the dog competitions on TV, you will be thrilled to have the opportunity to witness a live National Dockdogs Competitions. Just like you see on TV, these dogs will be leaping off of docks to retrieve items and then swimming back with them.
Conservation & Nature
If the hunting and fishing attractions aren’t appealing to you, you might find yourself more at home in the Wildlife & Conservation Pavilion. Here you can talk with representatives from the CARE Foundation, which is a sanctuary for all types of animals.
There will also be representatives from the Avian Reconditioning Center that care for all sorts of birds of prey. Nature lovers will also be able to participate in free tours around Lake Apopka and the surrounding wildlife areas.
Whether you are interested in country music, cooking, hunting and fishing, nature and conservation, shooting, or just want to watch an incredible show of athletic dogs, there is something available for everyone at The Old Florida Outdoor Festival in Apopka. Make sure you put this exciting event on your calendar right away, because you won’t want to miss it!
