Tampa is considered one of the major cultural hubs of Florida, and there are a number of Tampa area museums that should be at or near the top of just about everyone's list of places to visit in Florida.
Here are a few of our favorite Tampa Area museums:
Museum of Science & Industry
Tampa's Museum of Science & Industry, or “MOSI” for short, is a scientific playground with more than 100 hands-on activities for guests to experience.
It may sound like child's play at first, but there's something here for visitors of all ages. Plus, if you are able to experience it with your grandkids, that's even better!
You can lie on a bed of nails, build a robot, explore optical illusions, challenge yourself with hands-on brain puzzles, and so much more.
Tampa Museum of Art
The Tampa Museum of Art opened in 2010 and since that time it has become one of the best places to see modern and contemporary art in the country, not just in Florida.
The Tampa Museum of Art has a strong focus on visual arts, contemporary photography, and new media, so there's something for everyone.
Henry B. Plant Museum
History buffs will want to put the Henry B. Plant Museum on their list.
Henry Plant was a railroad tycoon operating in the Tampa area during the late 1800s. He's famous for having built the Tampa Bay Hotel, which was the most over-the-top hotel of its time, and now houses the Henry B. Plant Museum.
The Dali Museum
The Dali Museum celebrates the life and work of Spanish artist Salvador Dali.
It contains nearly 100 of Dali's oil paintings dating back as far as 1904. In addition to the paintings, there are many other examples of Dali's work in other mediums.
Considering Retirement in the Tampa Area?
If you retire to the Tampa area, you'll never run out of places to see or things to do.
One community you might want to explore is the Villages of Citrus Hills, within easy driving distance of Tampa and all the city has to offer.
The Villages of Citrus Hills is a Florida Retirement Community with single family homes and maintenance free villas that have been built with today’s demanding baby-boomer in mind.
But what makes the promise of Florida Retirement in the Villages of Citrus Hills truly come together for today’s new breed of active adult retiree is its extraordinary collection of world-class community country club amenities and extensive social activities.
