Lake Nona is a master-planned community that spans 7,000 acres. The area has been developed to include Lake Nona Medical City, which is a hub for biomedical research and education that features five difference medical facilities including a University of Central Florida College of Medicine and Health Sciences campus, the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, the Orlando VA Medical Center, Nemours Children’s Hospital, and a University of Florida Research and Academic Center.

Lake Nona Demographics
Lake Nona grew from a population of just a few thousand people in 2010 to more than 50,000 residents in 2015. Based on current construction targets and population estimates, the community is likely going to reach somewhere between 75,000 and 100,000 residents by 2020.
Because many of the residents of Lake Nona work at one of the nearby medical facilities, the entire area is extremely prosperous and residents are typically considered to be somewhere in the upper-middle-class income brackets.
Lake Nona Lifestyle
Much of the community revolves around the Medical City, so Lake Nona is known for promoting healthy living among all of its residents. A full 40% of the community is dedicated to green spaces that include dog parks, athletic parks, playgrounds, and gardens. On top of that, there are resort-style and Olympic swimming pool options in each of the five neighborhoods.
Lake Nona residents also have access to state-of-the-art fitness centers located in each of the community neighborhoods, and there is a total of 44 miles of trails for walking or biking that criss-cross throughout the community.
The United States Tennis Association recently moved into a state-of-the-art facility with 100 courts that houses the USTA’s Community Tennis and Player Development divisions as well as the University of Central Florida’s tennis teams. Chroma specializes in small plates, craft beer, and fine wine. The Fish Tacos are a popular option here, but you might also want to get a little more adventurous and try the Roasted Bone Marrow dish.
