WaterSound is a master-planned community on Florida's Gulf Coast that you are going to hear A LOT about in the coming years.
That's because it is the 3rd Latitude Margaritaville location, behind Daytona Beach (1st location) and Hilton Head (2nd location).
While you might be hearing about Watersound for the first time because Latitude Margaritaville Watersound is putting it on the map, those “in the know” have been doing their level best to keep this majestic part of Florida secret for years.
I must say, I lived in Daytona Beach for 30+ years, and I've visited Hilton Head several times, and of all the Latitude Margaritaville locations, Watersound feels the most like the kind of place you'd hear about in a Jimmy Buffett song, which kind of makes sense since Jimmy grew up on the Gulf Coast one state over in Alabama.
This video gives you a good idea of just how picturesque Watersound actually is:

Where is Watersound Florida?
Watersound is located in the Florida Panhandle, right off Scenic Highway 30-A in the heart of South Walton county, about 17 miles northwest of Panama City Beach, and 30 miles east of Destin.
Here's a map showing exactly where Watersound is located:
Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is the closest airport (approximately 15 minutes from away).
Popular Watersound Restaurants
One of my favorite places to eat up here is called Fish Out of Water. It's located inside the WaterColor Inn & Resort. I can personally vouch for the crab cakes and the Caesar salad (pictured above), but this place is in the Golden Spoon (Florida Trend Magazine's Restaurant Awards) Hall of Fame, so I'm sure everything else is great too.
Another Golden Spoon Hall of Famer is called Bud & Alley's which has an incredible view from their Roof Deck Bar.
I've also heard good things about George's at Aly's Beach.
You should also be sure to check out Airstream Row. Just trust me!
Where to Stay When Visiting Watersound

When I was in town meeting with executives from Watersound developer St. Joe a few years ago I was originally supposed to stay at the WaterColor Inn, but the way it worked out with the dates of my visit they ended up putting me in a full-on vacation rental condo.
The Watersound Inn is definitely another option, and The St. Joe Company has a nice roundup of other places to stay nearby.
Also, there are a ton of vacation rentals on VRBO and Airbnb.

If you're not into the beach, boating, or fishing, I'm sorry to say, you'll probably hate it here.
But if you are a golfer, you're in luck! Local tracks include Camp Creek Golf Club, Shark's Tooth Golf Course, and Origins Golf Club.
Other draws include Deer Lake State Park, Grayton Beach State Park, and Camp Helen State Park.
