As you might know, the Florida real estate market has been going gangbusters so far this year.
There are a couple of real estate consulting companies that track sales and compile annual lists of the top selling communities, and one of them, RCLCO, also does a “Mid-Year” list.
Below are 5 of the 13 Florida communities that made the 2021 mid-year list.
Earlier this week I posted an article featuring links for further reading and commentary on all 13 Florida communities that made the list for members of my Florida Retirement Insider community.

Keep in mind that “Best Selling” does not necessarily mean a community is the right place for you.
But as the saying goes, “success leaves clues”, and they aren’t on this list for nothing.
Enough people decided it was the right place for them, so for that reason alone they might be worth exploring.
Some of these communities you've no doubt heard of, but there are some among the list of 13 that may not have crossed your radar yet.
#1 in Florida and the Nation: Lakewood Ranch (Sarasota, FL)
Lakewood Ranch has recorded 1,535 sales so far this year. That's up 83% vs this time last year.
Lakewood Ranch as a whole is not 55+, but there are certain neighborhoods within it that are.
You can read my guide to LWR here.
#2 in Florida and the Nation: The Villages
The Villages has recorded an ESTIMATED 1,226 sales so far this year, based on their performance last year.
The Villages does not report mid-year sales and from everything I’ve heard things are going well there, so they very well may be #1 in actuality. We’ll see where they end up at the end of the year.
Longtime readers know I have a completely separate website and book focused solely on The Villages (that's how popular and big it is) and one of the best places to start is my article on Cool facts about The Villages.
#3 in Florida and #5 in the Nation: Wellen Park (Venice, FL)
The Spring Training home of the Atlanta Braves, Wellen Park has recorded 534 sales so far this year.
That's actually down 22% vs this time last year.
#4 in Florida and #15 in the Nation: On Top of the World (Ocala, FL)
On Top of the World has had 425 sales so far this year. That's up 70% vs this time last year.
You can check out video of my recent visit to On Top of the World here.
#5 in Florida and #16 in the Nation: Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach
Sales at the first ever Jimmy Buffett inspired 55+ community are still going strong. Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach has recored 415 sales so far this year. That is up 48% vs this time last year.
