Oak Run in Ocala 55+ Community Review

by Ryan Erisman | Updated: February 4, 2023

Oak Run is a gated, active adult community in the Ocala area that offers reasonably priced homes for resale and a variety of opportunities to engage with other retirees.

While we tend to focus on communities that are still building and selling new homes, we make the occasional exception for notable communities that have sold out and only offer resales, and Oak Run fits that description.

Homes for Sale in Oak Run

Just over 3,500 attached and single-family homes were built in Oak Run between 1985 and 2007.

Again, all of the new construction homes have been sold, but an ever-changing lineup of pre-owned resale homes are available for sale including both duplexes and single family residences offered in over 20 unique floor plans ranging from 1,049 to 2,275 square feet.

Here's what's on the market right now:

All homes in Oak Run have two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an attached one or two-car garage. Every individual home inside the development has single-level living and open-concept designs that make this a perfect choice for those who want to own a smaller place after they retire to Florida.

Oak Run Overview

This overview posted by the developer a number of years ago gives you a pretty good idea of what the community is like:

Oak Run Amenities

Like most active adult communities of this size, Oak Run has a variety of amenities available. The clubhouse spans 30k square feet and is the place to be for community activities such as socials and fitness activities.

The Island Club offers three pools: a lap pool, an aqua-training pool, and a lounge pool.

There is also an “Aqua Sports Club” that provides an indoor heated pool.

The Orchid Club offers a variety of recreational and educational amenities, including an additional fitness center, billiards room, card room, meeting rooms and more. Outside there are tennis, pickleball, and bocce courts.

Residents can purchase a regular membership or social membership at the 18-hole championship Royal Oaks Golf Club.

Oak Run residents can also play other nearby public or semi-private courses like Candler Hills Golf Course, and Stone Creek Golf Club.

What's Nearby?

Oak Run has convenient access to many of central Florida's favorite destinations and is close to stores, restaurants, and more.

There are a number of grocery stores, pharmacies, and health care providers that can be found all within 20 minutes drive from Oak Run.

The Appleton Museum of Art and Rainbow Springs State Park are just a few of the local attractions in the area.

The Ocala area is only 45 minutes away from Greater Orlando, which offers an endless array of places and things to experience and explore.

Other communities in the area that do offer new homes for sale include On Top of the World and Del Webb Stone Creek.
